Dr. Shaneé Moore is a native of Newport News, VA and has called South Carolina home for the past 15 years.  She received her Doctorate of Philosophy in Public Safety from Capella University in 2016.  Moore’s dissertation “From child welfare to the juvenile justice system: African American female crossover youth”, examined the relationship between the type of foster care placements, time in foster care and the number of placements and referrals to the juvenile justice system of African American females.

Moore has had the privilege of working with children and families in the area of child welfare, mental health, substance abuse, juvenile justice, and domestic violence for over 20 years. She has shared her expertise and knowledge in varying organizations in Virginia, Texas, and South Carolina. She severed as director of operations at the Associated Marine Institute, Inc. where she provided rehabilitative services to youth adjudicated in the juvenile justice system. While at South Carolina Department of Social Services, she served as a service coordinator for youth receiving therapeutic foster care services and later as an investigator in the Out of Home Abuse and Neglect (OHAN) Unit.  Moore also served as a training and development director for the Center for Child and Family Studies at the University of South Carolina; where she was a member of the Child Welfare Training team and assisted in the development of training curricula and design. Moore currently serves as Program Manager:  Child Sex Trafficking Trainer for the Children’s Law Center, University of South Carolina, School of Law.

Moore is committed to improving service delivery systems for the benefit of youth and families. Her commitment is evident in her vocation and her volunteer work. She serves as a volunteer arbitrator with the Richland County Sheriff’s Office. Her dedication to social justice also extends to her work as a member of Delta Sigma Theta Sorority, Inc.  Moore has a passion of working with children and families and believes that everyone has their own narrative to tell about their life, and we need to listen.
