Description
This core course, offered in a two-part sequence, examines the historical evolution of social welfare, social welfare policy and the social work profession in the United States. The course further explores how social, racial, political, and economics forces have shaped the development of social welfare in this country and how social justice issues, such as oppression, racism and discrimination, have traditionally affected marginalized groups. Prerequisite: SOSW 203, ECON 113. Required for social work majors.
